About me

About me

On this blog, I am sharing conditions the affect me or my husband. And recording information, I am learning. I am not a health adviser. I am researching and sharing info that may help others.

My husband had a heart attack in 1999. The gave him a stent. Then we went through years of learning to eat heart healthy. Hubby was put on the drug Lipitor.    This medicine caused very bad muscle cramps. He came home from work one day, looking like he had a very bad heart attack, His right side was seized up. his had was in a fist position. Arm bent up to his belly. We went right to the hospital to find it was a side affect from Lipitor. So we stopped using it. But for years later he had to used Skelactin, it is a muscle relaxer. He had leg and chest muscle pain.

In 2005, He developed an enlarged prostate, So he was sent for a stress test to see if he could have surgery. He failed. His heart had give its self a small bypass. one small vein developed and was keeping him alive. So he had a 5 way bypass in Jan of 06. And had till April to get the prostate surgery.

The heart doctor would not let him stp meds for the prostate surgery. So I looked up on the internet to find Green light laser surgery for him. I found only 1 doctor who would do this to him. He came out of surgery bleeding. Where green light was said to not bleed. So he went home with a catheter. They removed it 4 days later. He was left impotent.

In may he was allowed to go back to work on light duty only. But his employer would only let him work 1-2 days a month. And canceled his medical insurance.  So he was forced to look for a new job.
We had to see our home in St. Louis, and move into a home that needed complete renovation.  And it is 5 years later and we are still working on it. When we can.

Hubby tried to work for a week in this new location, and found he could not do it. So he was forced to apply for disability. And we had to live 1 year with no income.

In 2009, he was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and tried the device for 3 months. It as so scary for me. I could hear him snore though out the house. And when he stopped breathing. I would hold my breath till he mad another noise.  I stay up all night and go to bed when he gets up now.

Now in August of 2012. He has been diagnosed a type 2 diabetic.

So now, New diet. More learning for me.

I am his care giver and wife.

I myself have suffered from depression.  But I am on the road to recovery. My health has suffered. And I can no longer do many things I did in the past.
